Montusi Mountain Lodge

Space, Luxury and Tranquillity await at Montusi Mountain Lodge, where stunning mountain views provide the perfect backdrop for a rejuvenating escape. Set slightly down the valley, Montusi looks up and onto the famous Amphitheatre Escarpment, Sentinel Peak and Tugela Falls.

The peace and quiet are almost palpable and the luxurious accommodation and delicious cuisine envelope guests in an exquisite atmosphere of care.

The individual suites are nestled in established indigenous gardens where the prolific birdlife creates a magical soundtrack to the day and night.

With every detail covered from fluffy robes to umbrellas, the suites are a haven from the challenges of life.

As part of the Northern Drakensberg Nature Reserve, Montusi has combined its 1000 hectares with the other landowners to create a grazing corridor for the naturally-occuring and free-roaming Eland. This space offers an unsurpassed playground for adventurers to hike, run, cycle and horse-ride, while the less-adventurous can admire the beauty of the undeveloped Northern Drakensberg valley.

Sungubala Eco Camp

Set on a secluded mountain farm in the Northern Drakensberg Nature Reserve, overlooking the Sungubala Valley is the Sungubala Eco Camp. The beauty of a Sungubala stay is the quiet and remoteness, a space to get away from the noise, the demands of life and be immersed in nature. This is a self-catering camp, ideal for a nature lover’s active getaway and it is a tranquil spot to relax. The Sungubala Farm's landscapes are conserved and preserved and walks leave straight from the front door. It is also home of the Silent Woman, a rock carving crafted in the 1950s by artist and wanderer, William Chalmers.

An Eco Escape: The Eco Camp is a great base from which to explore the greater Cavern Nature Reserve and the uKhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site. Activities include mountain biking, hiking, trail running, swimming, horse riding, birding as well as other recreational activities. In keeping with the eco theme, all power is solar generated. Gas is used for cooking, and water heating. Sungubala Eco Camp has various accommodation options and the camp comprises 16 units in total and sleeps up to 40 people.

Gather with friends and family: The communal facilities include the boma, fire-pit, 2 kitchens, lounge, braai area, and swimming pool, which makes Sungubala Eco Camp ideal for celebrations and gatherings. The entire camp can be booked for exclusive getaways.
